Mustangs rally past Rams in N-O mat opener

Opening the Niagara-Orleans League wrestling season on a high note, Medina rallied to down visiting Roy-Hart/Barker 43-30 this evening.

Trailing 24-10, Medina came battling back to regain the lead for good ignited by back-to-back first period pins by Conor Crandall at 189 and Sawyer Kingsbury at 215. A forfeit win at 285 followed by a decision win by Reece Senske at 102 put the Mustangs back on top at 31-24.

Two more forfeit wins then upped the Medina advantage to 43-24 locking up the victory.

Medina had jumped out to a 10-0 lead at the outset of the match on a major decision win by Liam Castricone at 132 and a forfeit win at 138.

The Rams answered back with a second period pin by Joel Hickman at 145 followed by three straight forfeit wins at 152, 160 and 172 to take a 24-10 lead.

However, the Mustangs came rallying back to take the next six bouts on three forfeits,  the pins by Crandall and Kingsbury and the decision win by Senske to claim the win.
