Mustangs prep for N-O volleyball season

With six veterans returning and new Coach Connie Heschke at the helm, Medina is prepping for the September 9 Niagara-Orleans League volleyball opener at rival Albion.

The Mustangs will tune up for the N-O season by hosting Holley Thursday and Lyndonville on September 7  in non league matches.

Heschke takes over the Mustangs helm from Tim Lincoln who is now coaching the women’s volleyball team at Genesee Community College.

Anchoring the Medina squad is the veteran group of seniors Amaya Clevelad, Sage Cau and Faith Oberther along with junior Hailey Wilkins and sophomores Ki’Mani Poole and Lorelei Sanders.

Graduation losses from last season’s 3-7 team include first team N-O All-League selection Devin Griffin, Honorable Mention picks Evie Schultz and Ianah Drisdom along with Sydney Watts and Anya Bloom.

Schedule (Varsity matches at 6:30 p.m.)

September: 2 – Holley, 7 – Lyndonville, 9 – at Albion, 14 – Wilson, 16 – at Newfane, 22 – at Roy-Hart, 27 – Akron, 29 – Albion, 30 – at Holley.

October: 2 – at Byron-Bergen  (11:30 a.m.), 5 – at Wilson, 7 – Newfane, 8 – at Lyndonville, 13 – Roy-Hart, 18 – at Akron.
