Mustangs post win over Lancers

Moving on top to stay with a pair of second quarter touchdowns, Medina/Lyndonville/Barker went on to defeat Lew-Port 28-13 this evening in an interdivisional game at Vets Park.

Breaking away from a 7-7 deadlock, the Mustangs moved out to a 21-7 halftime advantage as quarterback Izaiah Rhim completed touchdown passes of 24 yards to Brian Fry and 21 yards to Tyler Chinn.  Rhim also hooked up with Chinn for a 27 yard TD pass in the first quarter.

Rhim tacked on an insurance touchdown with a 19 yard run late in the third period upping the Mustangs lead to 28-7 as Matt Hess tacked on his fourth extra point kick of the night.  William Braswell had a 17 yard run and a 17 yard pass reception from Rhim to key that drive.

Defensively, the Mustangs got big second quarter sacks by Emmanuel Taylor and the duo of Blaire Prest and Riley Black as Rickie Pitts made a key breakup of a fourth down Lancers pass.

In the second half the Mustangs defense got a big sack from Colby Petrie in the third quarter and a fumble recovery by Black in the final stanza.

Lew-Port scored in the first quarter on a 27 yard JP Stewart to John Wendt pass and in the fourth quarter on a 1 yard Frank Previte run.

The Mustangs, which next host Olean on Friday in a B2 contest, improve to 3-0 while the Lancers slip to 0-3.
