Mustangs post volleyball win over Lady Tigers

Medina downed host Lyndonville 25-19, 25-18, 25-21 this evening in a non league volleyball match.

Devin Griffin had 6 spiking kills and Anya Bloom 3 kills and 3 service aces to lead the way for Medina as Sydney Watts and Evie Schultz both had 2 aces.

Gracie Johnson had 3 aces, Lorelei Dillenbeck 2 aces and 2 kills and Cianna Button 2 aces for Lyndonville.

Medina jumped out to a 22-8 lead in the opening set as Bloom served up points 18-22 including 3 aces.

Johnson answered with a five point run of serve points to rally Lyndonvlle back to within 24-19 but the Lady Tigers could get no closer.

The Mustangs moved out to a 12-7 lead midway through the second set as Bloom served up points 4-7 and Lorelei Sanders 9-12 as Griffin registered 3 kills during that stretch. Sanders later polished off the set winning 25th point with a kill.

Neither team could build up a big lead in the third set as aces by Ellia Lewis and Button and a kill by Lewis kept Lyndonville with two of Medina at 23-21.

However, the final two points, the set and the match belonged to the Mustangs as Ki’ Mani Poole served up the final point.

Lyndonville next visits Byron-Bergen on Thursday for a Geensee Region League match while Medina will begin Niagara-Orleans League competition at Newfane on April 8.
