Mustangs post shutout win over Lakemen

A big early inning scoring burst keyed Medina to a 10-0 five inning run rule victory over Wilson in a Niagara-Orleans League baseball game this evening at Vets Park.

Leading 1-0, the Mustangs broke the game open by scoring five times in the second inning highlighted by RBI doubles by winning pitcher Brian Fry, Aidan Papaj and Carter Woodworth. The big frame also included singles by Tyler Kroening and Preston Wodworth.

The Mustangs capped off the win by scoring three times in the fifth frame as Brady Christiaansen had an RBI single.

On the mound, Fry hurled a one hit shutout with 9 strikeouts.

Improving to 11-0 in N-O action and 16-1 overall, Medina will close out the league campaign on Monday at Wilson which is now 2-9.

Akron 6, Albion 2
Taking over sole possession of second place, Akron used a pair of three run innings to down host Albion 6-2.

Akron is now 8-3 in N-O action while Albion slips to 7-4. The teams will meet again on Monday at Akron to close out the league season.

The Tigers scored three times in the second inning as Jackson Odachowski had a two-run single and three times in the seventh as Hunter Haist had an RBI single.

Albion’s two runs came in the fourth inning on a double by Mason Snook and a single by Gavin Boyce.

Nate Gibson had 3 hits, including a double, for the Purple Eagles.

Roy-Hart 7, Barker 3
Roy-Hart scored 4 quick runs in the first inning on a two-run single by John Brigham, a bases loaded walk and an error to key the 7-3 win at Barker. A double by Sean Mettler ignited that uprising.

Winning pitcher Evan Poeller later belted a solo home run in the fifth inning. On the mound he scattered 5 hits and struck out 10.

Isaac Monaco had an RBI double in the first inning and Logan Flint an RBI single in the fifth inning for Barker.

Mettler and Monaco both had a pair of hits on the day.
