Mustangs, Panthers head N-O All-League basketball squad

Champion Medina and runner-up Newfane have both placed two players on the first team of the annual Niagara-Orleans All-League basketball squad.

Medina, which posted a 12-0 record to capture a second straight N-O title, is represented by junior Jalin Cooper and sophomore Johnny Salone.

Newfane, which went 10-2 in N-O competition, has placed the junior duo of Max Weber and Kyle DeVoogel.

Cooper and Luckman, are both repeat selections while Weber and DeVoogel were both second team honorees a year ago.

Cooper tied a Medina single season scoring record by tallying 458 points (20.8 average). He also grabbed off 207 rebounds and had 66 steals and 58 assists.

Salone scored 284 points (12.9 ave.) and had 174 rebounds, 70 steals and 28 assists.

Luckman, who surpassed the 1,000 point career scoring milestone late in the season, had 487 points (221.1 ave.) as well as 115 rebounds, 70 assists and 50 steals.

DeVoogel scored 378 points (18.0 ave.) and also averaged 4.6 rebounds and 4.5 steals while Weber tallied 320 points (15.2 ave.) and averaged 7 rebounds and 7 assists.

Wilson’s senior duo of Justin Daul and Connor Seeley head the second team which also includes Albion senior Kory Reynolds, Medina sophomore Izaiah Rhim and Roy-Hart junior Jacob Bruning.

Daul scored 262 points (12.4 ave.), Seeley 241 (11.4) and Bruning 323 (15.3 ave.). Reynolds had 260 points (12.3 ave.), 235 rebounds, 39 assists and 37 steals while Rhim had 197 points (9.0 ave.), 167 rebounds, 107 assists and 37 steals.

Receiving Honorable Mention were Mason Schultz and Derek Holtz from Akron; Lamar Chambers, Tommy Mattison, Chase Hall and Tanner Ferris from Albion; Eddie Wasnock, Jake Arnold and Austin Sullivan from Barker; Vincent Montague, Brendan Luthart, Mason Lewis, Alex Allis and Tyrellis Atkins from Medina; Caleb Russell, Connor Hill, Chad Dunbar and Brandon Gross from Newfane; DJ Davis and Brendan Hess from Roy-Hart and Jonah Miller and Steve Frerichs from Wilson.
