Mustangs open busy stretch by downing Lakemen; Rams top Purple Eagles

Beginning a busy stretch of three league home games in four days, Medina downed visiting Wilson 57-48 in a Niagara-Orleans League contest this evening.

Improving to 3-1 in N-O competition, Medina stays even with Akron, a 34-29 victor over Newfane, for second place and just a half game behind front-running Roy-Hart (4-1) which bested host Albion 66-53.

Medina next hosts Akron in a key make-up game on Thursday and then entertains Barker on Friday.

Joe Cecchini scored a game high 20 points to lead Medina as David Berry added 11, Jarin Rhim 10, Cayden Lilleby 6, Kaedon Cleveland 5, Justin Pitts 3 and Amari Soule 2.

Jake Austin scored 15, Paul Smith 11 and Mike Bubar 10 to lead Wilson which slips to 3-3.

Medina jumped out to a 17-11 first quarter lead a Berry had 6, Lilleby 4 and Cecchini hit the first of his five threes.

A rebound bucket by Rhim and a three by Cecchini upped the Mustangs lead to 11, 22-11, at the outset of the second quarter.

However, the Lakemen countered with a 16-6 run over the rest of the quarter to rally back to within one, 28-27, at the half. Austin scored 9 to lead that rally.

Wilson did rally into the lead twice early in the third quarter but Medina closed the period with an 11-2 highlighted by a pair of threes by Cecchini to regain a 10 point, 44-34, lead heading into the final stanza.

The Lakemen could get no closer than six down the stretch as Rhim scored 7 and Berry 5 to help keep the Mustangs on top.

Roy-Hart 66, Albion 53
Aiden Petrie poured in a game high 32 and Jamel Johnson Jr. tallied 19 to pace league leading Roy-Hart to a 66-53 win over host Albion.

Jahmeek Riley scored 17, Caleb Fox 12 and Shakarion Drisdom 11 for Albion.

Leading by a narrow 29-26 margin at the half, Roy-Hart opened up a 9 point, 43-34, advantage at the three-quarter mark and then used a 23-19 fourth quarter scoring edge to lock up the win. Petrie scored 8 in the third period and 9 in the fourth for the Rams.

Pembroke 65, Holley 33
Leading by a slender 24-20 margin at the half, Pembroke used a 25-5 third period scoring surge to open up a 16 point, 45-29 lead and key a 65-33 Genesee Region League win over host Holley.

Tyson Totten scored 23 and Cayden Pfalzer 21 to lead the way for Pembroke which improves to 10-5.

Erik Lang led Holley with 14.

RAC 92, Lyndonville 30
Noah Poler scored 12 for Lyndonville which dropped a 92-30 decision to visiting Rochester Charter Academy in a non league contest.
