Mustangs nip Lakemen to regain share of lead

Medina/Lyndonville nipped host Wilson 1-0 this afternoon enabling the Mustangs to regain a share of the Niagara-Orleans League boys soccer league.

Dan Mandujano scored the game’s lone goal for the Mustangs at the 30 minute mark of the first half.

Zach Fike earned the shutout goal as the trio of Anthony Moule, Jack Whipple and Alex Barry anchored the defense.

The victory vaults Medina back into a tie for first place with Newfane at 5-1. That sets the stage for a key matchup as the Mustangs will host the Panthers at 4:15 p.m. Friday at Vets Park.

The loss drops Wilson to 1-5.

Holley, Kendall tie in G-R games

Holley battled to a 1-1 overtime tie with Wheatland-Chili as did Kendall with Byron-Bergen in Genesee Region League games.

Kohl Morgan scored Holley’s lone goal off an assist from Brad Kingdollar.

Derek Edick netted the lone Kendall goal off an assist from Brian Gonzalez as Mason Kuhn made 16 saves in goal for the Eagles.

Holley is now 4-1-1 and Kendall 2-2-2 in G-R action.

Barker, Wilson golfers post wins

Barker (4-6) nipped Albion (6-3) 246-248 and Wilson (8-3) downed Akron (6-4) 226-246 this afternoon in Niagara-Orleans League golf action.

Jake Harris shot a 43 to lead Barker while Albion’s Patrick Ricker took medalist honors with a 40,

Patrick Seeley took medalist honors with a 41 and Nathan Meyers had a 42 to lead the way for Wilson.
