Mustangs net win over Tigers
Raiders, Hawks also score victories
Defending champion Medina bested host Akron 5-1/2 this afternoon to remain unbeaten at 4-0 in Niagara-Orleans League tennis competition.
In scoring straight set wins for the Mustangs in singles competition Ben Howell blanked Jacob Borth 6-0, 6-0; Kristian Snyder defeated Ryan Meek 6-0, 6-1 and Nate Pace downed Tyler Kelley 6-3, 6-3.
The Mustangs also took the first two doubles matches as the team of Brian Bogan and Tristan Sanders downed Nathan Chubb and Brandon Meek 6-1, 6-1 and the duo of Carson Zygoda and Nick Dieter rallied to edge Dan Bilicki and Jacob Meyer 5-7, 7-5, 7-6.
Akron, which slips to 1-5, took the third doubles match as Sierra Janis and Morgan Wagner downed Tom Horgan and Austin Owens 6-2, 6-2.
In one other N-O match, Barker boosted its record to 4-2 with a 3-2 1/2 victory over Newfane.
Singles victories by the trio of Sean Benoit, Tristan Payne and Brian Hefferon keyed the win for the Raiders.
Holley 5, Attica 0
Holley boosted its Genesee Region League record to 6-2 with a 5-0 victory over Attica.
Corey Winter, Brady Smith and Ian Penders all scored straight set wins in singles competition for Holley.
The Hawks also got straight set wins by the doubles teams of John Rusin – Jake McAllister and Brandon Moore – Dave Sutton.
