Medina romps past CSAT to claim crown outright at 13-1

Racing out to a 17 point first quarter lead, Medina went on to defeat host CSAT 58-32 this evening to claim outright possession of the Niagara-Orleans League boys basketball championship.

The victory caps off a 13-1 league campaign for Medina which claimed the N-O crown for the first time since the 2008-09 campaign.

Johnny Salone scored 16 while Justin Morgan and Tyler Ames both had 10 to lead Medina’s attack as Ronnie Koonce added 6 and Dylan Lewis 5.

Getting point production from seven different players Medina raced out to a 19-2 first quarter lead and was never headed.

Salone tallied 10 in the second period to help boost the Mustangs advantage to 25, 37-12, at the half.

CSAT finishes the N-O season at 5-9.

The Mustangs look to be the No. 2 seed for the upcoming Section VI Class B1 playoffs and are expected to host a quarterfinal game on February 19.
