Mustangs, Lady Tiger booters post shutouts

LYNDONVILLE – Scoring a sweep, the Medina/Lyndonville boys varsity team and the Lyndonville girls squad both scored victories here today by the identical score.

The Medina/Lyndonville boys blanked Park 2-0 in a non league game and the Lyndonville girls bested Notre Dame 2-0 in a Genesee Region League game.

Improving to 3-1, Medina/Lyndonville scored the only goal it needed on a header by Anthony Pane off a cross from Greg Husung with three minutes to go in the first half.

The Mustangs later put a lock on the victory when James Ianni scored from close range off an assist from Aaron Feltz with 11 minutes to go in the second half.

The Lyndonville girls evened their G-R record at 2-2 as Chelsea Poler scored both goals in the second half. She scored with 15:40 remaining off an assist from Gaby Dusset and again with 11:36 to go from Alyssa Mahnke.

Jenna Castricone made eight saves to earn the shut-out in goal as Francy Silversmith and Rebekah Hoffee anchored the defense and Autumn Nesbitt the midfield area for the Lady Tigers.

Golf

Barker stays perfect
Barker defeated Roy-Hart 244-263 Friday to remain undefeated at 6-0 in Niagara-Orleans League golf action. Alonzo St. Louis took medalist honors for the Raiders with s 43 as Brad Wilson and Mitch Luckman both shot 45.

In another N-O match, Newfane evened its record at 3-3 by downing Wilson (4-2) 228-235 as Aiden Herlan led the way with a 41. Paul Tilyou and Zach Lajoie both added rounds of 45 for the Panthers.

Connor Seeley shot 43 and Dominic Curcione and Zach Russell 45 for Wilson.
