The Medina/Lyndonville JV football team rallied for a touchdown and a two-point conversion with just 20 seconds remaining to nip Alden 22-20 this morning at Vets Park.

Alden took a 20-14 lead by scoring a touchdown with just 40 seconds remaining.

However, the Mustangs answered right back just two plays after the ensuing kickoff as quarterback Ronnie Koonce completed a 62 yard touchdown pass to Johnny Salone to tie the game at 20-20.

That same combination of Koonce to Salone then clicked again for the game winning two-point conversion.

Earlier in the half, the Mustangs rallied from deficits of 6-0 and 14-6 on touchdown runs by Koonce of 28 and 21 yards. Koonce also completed a two-point conversion pass to Brendan Luthart after the second TD knotting the game at 14-14.

Koonce had a total of 71 yards rushing and Salone 100 yards receiving.

Ond defense, Salone, Ian Joseph and Jesus Iniguez each made 7 tackles and Mike Eckerd had a key fumble recovery.

The Mustangs and Bulldogs are now both 4-1 on the season.
