Mustangs have 4 N-O wrestling champions

Four Medina wrestlers captured individual weight class championships at the annual Niagara-Orleans All-League Tournament held today at Albion.

The Mustangs quartet of champions included Reece Senske (116), Luke Duffina (124), Brody Fry (190) and Sawyer Kingsbury (215) who is a repeat winner.

In their title bouts, Senske decisioned Rian Czaja (Newfane) 5-0, Duffina pinned Ryley Mahoney (Newfane) in 5:14, Kingsbury decisioned Ty Mangoine (Newfane) 6-0 and and Fry pinned his Mustangs teammate Conor Crandall in 1:56.

The Mustangs also had Liam Castricone (131) and Brennan Allen (160) earn third place finishes.

Newfane, which captured the team title, had six champions including Jaxson Tocco (101), Jakob Lucinski (108), Sean Milczarski (138), Ayden Buttery (145), Ayden Gillings (152) and Colin Doxey (170).

In the finals, Tocco pinned Jacob Sommers (Akron) in 1:22; Lucinski scored an 18-2 technical fall over Tyler Zimmerman (Akron); Milczarski pinned Tyler Goff-Brown (Wilson) in 2:5; Buttery pinned Andrew Danner (Wilson) in :41; Gillings decisioned Christian Klonowski (Akron) 11-2 and Doxey decisioned Ronan Klug (Roy-Hart/Barker) 9-6.

Wilson had a trio of winners including Victor Cusatis (131), Jacob Stephenson (160) and William Wortkoetter (285).

In the finals, Cusatis decisioned Luke Fay (Roy-Hart/Barker) 13-8; Stephenson pinned Richard Doxey (Newfane) 4:30) and Wortkoetter decisioned his Wilson teammate Hamza Merrick 6-2.

Roy-Hart/Barker also got third place finishes from Lucas Kimber (116), Joe Jopp (124), Joel Hickman (152) and Neil Stanczyk (190) as did Albion from Drayson Shonerd (108) and Mason Lynch (285).

Newfane, which went 5-0 during the regular season, capped off its title campaign by winning the All-League Tournament with 197.5 points. Wilson was second with 146.5 followed by Medina 128, Akron 105, Roy-Hart/Barker 88 and Albion 28.
