Mustangs gain split in N-O track opener

Photos by Cheryl Wertman – Chase Pecoraro won both hurdles events and the pole vault for Medina/Lyndonville in this afternoon’s season opening win over visiting Wilson.

Medina/Lyndonville earned a split with visiting Wilson this afternoon in the Niagara-Orleans League track opener.

Medina/Lyndonville won the boys meet 77.5-63.5 while Wilson took the girls competition 86-54.

Chase Pecoraro was a triple winner for the Medina/Lyndonville boys squad in the 110 hurdles, 400 hurdles and pole vault.

The Mustangs also got double win efforts from Jalin Cooper in the 100 and 200 and Zach Harris in the shot-put and discus as Dan Heil took the 3200 and Matt Cochrane the triple jump.

The Mustangs also took the 1600 relay with the quartet of Sam Simms, Austin Heil, Derek Donley and Cochrane and the 3200 relay with the foursome of Ryan Leffler, Dan and Austin Heil and Adam Ceffelli.

Trey Rees was a triple winner for Wilson in the 400, 800 and 1600.

Martha Gardner was a double winner for the Medina/Lyndonville girls team in the 1500 and 3000 as Holly Heil took the 400 and Hannah Heil the 800.

Serina Jaeger was a triple winner for Wilson in the 100, 200 and long jump and Brittany White doubled in the shot-put and discus.

Barker sweeps Akron

The Barker Raiders boys team opened defense of their N-O title with a 103-29 victory over Akron.

Casey Webb was a quadruple winner for Barker in the 110 hurdles, 400 hurdles, triple jump and high jump.

The Raiders also had Dominick Snider double in the 100 and 200 and Sergio Cruz in the 1600 and 3200.

The Barker girls completed the sweep by defeating defending champion Akron 75-65.

Barker was led by a pair of individual event triple winners as Gabriella Clare took the 100 hurdles, 400 hurdles and high jump and Caitlyn Mason the long jump, triple jump and pole vault.

The Lady Raiders also had Kelsi Flegal double in the 100 and 200 and Allison Austin in the shot-put and discus.

Roy-Hart, Newfane split

The Roy-Hart boys squad defeated Newfane 86-54 as Colton Spicer doubled in the high jump and 200 and John Stoddard in the 110 hurdles and 400 hurdles.

The Rams also had Avery Green win the 1600, Eugene Bush the 400 and James DiLorenzo the triple jump.

Roy-Hart also swept the three relays as Spicer, Zach Jenkins, Jarrett Thompson and Tyler Choate took the 400; Bush, Green, Austin Dodge and Nelson Andrade the 1600 and Green, Bush, DiLorenzo and Tanner Bulmer the 3200.

Newfane gained a split by downing Roy-Hart 74-57 in the girls meet.

Amber Villella doubled in the long jump and triple jump and Emily Faltyn in the 400 and pole vault for Roy-Hart.
