Last second goal earns Mustangs FC key win
Scoring a dramatic goal in the final seconds the Medina Mustangs FC nipped the Buffalo Brighten Stars 3-2 at Vets Park this evening to take over sole possession of second place in the 3rd Division of the Buffalo and District Soccer League.
Steven Anderson scored on a direct kick with less than 10 seconds to go to give the Mustangs the exciting win.
The victory boosts the Mustangs record to 6-2 (18 points) as the Brighten Stars slip into third place at 4-1-3 (15 points).
The Brighten Stars grabbed a 1-0 lead midway through the first half but the Mustangs answered right back two minutes later on a goal by Ethan Leonard off an assist from Dan Mandujano.
The Mustangs then grabbed a 2-1 lead late in the first half as Nathan Dillenbeck scored as Greg Husung earned the assist.
The Brighten Stars rallied back into a 2-2 tie by scoring off a corner kick with less than 10 minutes to go in the second half.
That set the stage for Anderson’s dramatic game winning goal for the Mustangs just before time expired.
The Mustangs face Ukraine at Salen’s Sports Park next Sunday and will then host the front-running Buffalo Cosmos in the regular season finale on July 24 at Vets Park.
