Mustangs face key week in N-O title quest

Medina’s quest to capture a third straight Niagara-Orleans League boys basketball championship looks to hang on the outcome of the Mustangs two huge games this week against co-leader Newfane and runner-up Wilson.

Currently Medina and Newfane are tied for the league lead at 7-1 while Wilson remains in the title hunt two games off the pace at 6-3.

Medina visits Wilson at 6 p.m. Tuesday as the Mustangs look to avenge their only league loss to date, a 55-48 setback at home earlier in the season.

Medina then hosts Newfane at 6:30 p.m. Friday looking to complete a home-and-home season series sweep. The Mustangs handed the host Panthers their only N-O loss by a 73-65 score in their earlier meeting.

Wilson also has a key home game remaining against Newfane in the regular season finale on February 15.

The undefeated (9-0) Newfane girls will look to lockup outright possession of the title with a win at Barker on Tuesday.
