Mustangs face key N-O soccer tests

The fall high school sports season heads into the stretch run this coming week with key tests on tap to help determine league soccer, field hockey and cross-country titles.

In Niagara-Orleans League boys soccer action, Medina/Lyndonville (4-3) looks to remain in the thick of the title chase as the Mustangs visit co-leader Akron (6-2) at 4:30 p.m. Tuesday. The Mustangs will also host rival Albion at 6:30 p.m. Friday.

Roy-Hart, which shares the league lead at 6-2, hosts Newfane (4-4) in another key game at 6:30 p.m. Wednesday.

In Genesee Region League boys soccer, Kendall will host front-running Attica (6-1-1) at 4:30 p.m. Tuesday and visit rival runner-up Holley (6-2) at 1 p.m. Saturday. Holley also hosts Wheatland-Chili (4-3-1) in another key game at 7 p.m. Thursday.

The N-O field hockey lead will be at stake as undefeated (8-0) Akron hosts defending champion Barker (6-1) at 10 a.m. Saturday.

The N-O cross-country champions will be determined at the All-League meet on Saturday at Barker at 11 a.m. The defending champion Newfane boys and girls teams again lead the way after both went 6-0 during the dual meet portion of the season.
