A late inning scoring burst backed a strong combo pitching effort earning Medina a chilly 4-2 victory over Pembroke this evening in a non league game at Vets Park.

Breaking away from a 2-2 deadlock, Medina scored the decisive two runs in the bottom of the fifth inning on a fielders choice play and a single by Trevor Luthart. A sacrifice bunt by Alex Allis helped to set up the threat.

Earlier, the Mustangs scored solo runs in the first and second innings.

On the mound, Zach Fike and Luthart combined to hurl a one hitter. Fike struck our seven over the first four innings and Luthart fanned seven over the final three frames.

Medina next hosts Akron at 4:45 p.m. Thursday in the Mustangs Niagara-Orleans League opener.
