Mustangs edge past Bulldogs; Rams rally past Purple Eagles; Panthers top Tigers

Six points proved to be the biggest lead for either team as Medina trimmed host Barker 59-55 in a Niagara-Orleans League boys basketball game this evening.
Christian Moss poured in 21 points and Jerrell Nealy 20 to spearhead the Medina offense as Cole Callard added 9, Trevon Shine 4, Preston Woodworth 3 and Elijah Doxey 2.
Luey Castro took game high honors with 22 for Barker as Adan Mescall chipped in with 12, Isaac Monaco 9, Logan Murrell and Donovan Hefferon 5 and Owen Harris 2.
That six point lead came at the outset as Barker took a 6-0 advantage on a three-point play by Castro and a three by Murrell.
The Bulldogs went on to hold a 9-7 lead at the end of the low scoring opening period but the Mustangs answered with a 21-16 second quarter scoring edge to rally into a 28-35 lead at the half.
Moss scored 10 and Nealy 9 in the opening half for the Mustangs as Woodworth and Callard both hit threes. Castro paced the Bulldogs during that stretch with 12.
The lead changed hands three times in the third period which finished with Medina maintaining a slender 47-45 advantage.
Moss tallied 7, Callard 6 and Nealy 4 to pace the Mustangs in the third period while Mescall hit three threes to keep the Bulldogs close as Castro added 5 points and Monaco 4.
Another three by Mescall put Barker up 48-47 to open the decisive final period.
The lead then changed hands after each of the next three tallies as baskets by Nealy and Moss put Medina back on top to stay at 53-50 midway through the period.
Moss and Nealy then traded scored with Castro over the next three minutes to keep the Mustang up 57-55.
Free throws in the final 10 seconds by Shine and Nealy then closed out the Mustangs narrow win.
Medina is now 2-2 and Barker 1-4 in N-O action.

Roy-Hart 66, Albion 60
Rebounding from a 12 point halftime deficit, Roy-Hart rallied to down host Albion 66-60 in an N-O contest.
Trailing 35-23 at the half, Roy-Hart outscored Albion 43-25 in the second half to claim the win.
The Rams rallied to within four, 49-45, after three quarters and then outpointed the Purple Eagles 21-11 in the final stanza to clam the win.
Rem Albee scored 22, Dan Aquilina 19 and Jackson Webber 11 to lead Roy-Hart.
Blake Preston paced Albion with 21 as Seth Krenning added 9 and Kyle Radder and John Eibl 7.
Roy-Hart is now 2-3 and Albion 1-5 in N-O competition.
Newfane 73, Akron 43
Defending champion Newfane rolled to a 30 point, 73-43, victory over Akron in a key midseason battle of the unbeatens to take over the N-O lead.
Newfane is now 5-0 and Akron 5-1.
Landan Braman had 16 to lead a quartet of Newfane players hitting double figures while Blake Gerstung led Akron with 13.
