Medina pushed across a run in the bottom of the ninth inning to outlast Maryvale 3-2 in a non league baseball game at Vets Park this afternoon.
Breaking a 2-2 deadlock, the Mustangs scored the game winner on a single by Cam Fike. Carter Woodworth led off the inning with a walk and pinch runner Kolton Fletcher promptly stole second and third to set the stage for Fike’s game winning RBI single.
Earlier, the Mustangs scored once in the second on an error, which followed singles by Carter Woodworth and Hadrian Baista, and once in the fifth on a hit batter after an error and two walks had loaded the bases.
The Flyers tied the game by scoring two runs in the fifth inning on a pair of singles.
Lukas Grimes pitched the first five innings for the Mustangs giving up 2 hits and striking out 4. Vinny Gray hurled the final four frames allowing 2 hits and fanning 5.
Improving to 7-0 overall, Medina next visits Akron in a key Niagara-Orleans League game at 4:45 p.m. Monday. Akron is currently 4-0 and Medina 2-0 in N-O action.
