Mustangs earn No. 1 seed for Class B2 playoffs; Purple Eagles to host B1 twin bill

Undefeated (12-0) Niagara-Orleans League champion Medina has earned the No. 1 seed for the upcoming Section VI Class B2 boys basketball playoffs.

The Mustangs will host a B2 quarterfinal contest at 7 p.m. Friday against the winner of Wednesday’s opening round contest between No. 8 Gowanda and No. 9 JFK.

The No. 5 Medina girls squad will face No. 4 MST Prep at 5 p.m. Thursday in a B2 opener at City Honors.

The Albion boys and girls teams will open Class B1 competition at home with a doubleheader on Tuesday.

The No. 8 Albion girls team will host No. 9 Springville at 5 p.m. with the winner advancing to a quarterfinal round game at No. 1 Depew on Thursday. The No. 12 Purple Eagles boys squad will host No. 13 City Honors at 7 p.m. with the victor advancing to a second round game at No. 5 Dunkirk on Wednesday.

Also in the B1 girls playoffs, No. 7 Newfane hosts No. 10 Emerson at 7 p.m. Tuesday with the winner to visit No. 2 East Aurora on Thursday.

In girls Class B2 on Tuesday, No. 11 Roy-Hart visits No. 6 Southwestern with the winner to face No. 3 Wilson on Thursday. No. 8 Akron will also host No. 9 JFK.

In boys Class B2 competition on Tuesday No. 10 Roy-Hart will host No. 15 Eden and No. 14 Akron will entertain No. 11 Oracle, both at 7 p.m.

In a boys Class C2 quarterfinal, No. 6 Barker visits No. 3 Holland at 7 p.m. Friday.
