Leading from wire to wire, Medina bested rival Albion 64-55 in a Niagara-Orleans League boys basketball game this evening at Medina.

Jerrell Nealy scored a game high 25 points to lead Medina as Justin Pitts added 13, Preston Woodworth 10, Trevon Shine 6, Christian Moss 5, Cole Callard 3 and Elijah Doxey 2.

Kyle Radder paced Albion with 19 as Wesley Olles added 12, Blake Preston 10, John Eibl 8, Isaiah Riley 4 and Seth Krenning 2.

Medina jumped out to a 14-6 first quarter lead as Nealy scored 6 and Callard hit a three.

The Mustangs nearly doubled their advantage to 14, 31-17, at the half as Nealy tallied 9 in the second period which also included threes by Pitts and Woodworth.

Albion though came battling back in the third period outscoring Medina 19-7 over the first six minutes to slice the deficit to just two at 38-36. Radder scored 8, Preston 5 and Olles, Riley and Eibl 2 each to lead that Purple Eagles rally.

However, the Mustangs answered with a key 10-2 run to close the period and regain a 10 point, 48-38, advantage. A three at the buzzer by Pitts capped off that key uprising which also included buckets by Woodworth and Nealy.

The Mustangs extended their advantage to 15, 60-45, midway through the final period after a 12-7 run which included two baskets and a three-point play by Nealy and a three-point play by Pitts.

The Purple Eagles though again came battling back with an 8-0 run to pull to within seven, 60-53, with just over a minutes to go. Eibl and Radder both had a pair of baskets to key that surge.

Albion could get no closer though as Shine ended that Purple Eagles run with a key layup to put the Mustangs up 62-53 with 23 seconds to go. Shine then closed out the win with a pair of free throws to offset a late basket by Olles.

Medina is now 1-2 and Albion 1-4 in N-O action.
