Mustangs down Lakemen in lacrosse opener

Getting goal production from eight players, Medina rolled to a 17-3 victory over Wilson in the Class D Division lacrosse season opener this afternoon at Vets Park.

Cayden Lilleby led the Mustangs scoring parade with 7 goals as Josh Wilson netted 3, Cole Callard 2 and Jacob Rissew, Lucius Wagner, Will Prest, Liam Casricone and Ayden Johnson 1 each.

Wilson did jump out to a 2-0 lead in the first six minutes on goals by Wyatt McGinnis and Conor Peck but it was all Medina after that.

The Mustangs answered back with a 6-0 scoring burst to rally into a 6-2 lead at the end of the opening quarter. Lilleby scored 3, Wilson 2 and Callard 1 during that surge.

Keeping the momentum, Medina used a 5-0 second period scoring edge to up the lead to 11-2 at the half. Lilleby, Wilson, Callard, Russew and Wagner took turns scoring goals during that stretch.

The Mustangs held a 14-3 lead at the three-quarter mark as Lilleby scored twice and Prest once in the third period.

Fourth period goals by Lilleby, Castricone and Johnson rounded out the scoring for Medina which next visits Brockport for a non league game at 5 p.m. Monday.
