Snapping a season opening two game losing streak, Medina/Lyndonville/Barker knocked host Maryvale from the ranks of the unbeaten as the Mustangs defeated the host Flyers 26-6 this evening in a B2 Division contest.

The Mustangs grabbed a 12-6 first half lead as quarterback Jarin Rhim threw touchdown passes of 13 yards to Nathan Neace and 3 yards to Brian Fry.

The Mustangs later put a lock on the victory when Fry had a pair of long touchdown runs covering 54 and 30 yards in the final six minutes of the fourth quarter. Rhim had a two-point conversion run after the first TD.

The Mustangs stingy defensive effort included two interceptions by Fry and a fumble recovery by Zach Hill.

“The kids just played great. They played good tough football,” said Mustangs Coach Eric Valley. “We were missing eight players but we really had some kids step up and do the job. Our defense played real well. We’re a young team but we’re improving.”

Both teams are now 1-1 in B2 competition.

Medina/Lyndonville/Barker next hosts Dunkirk next Friday at 7 p.m. in another B2 game.
