Mustangs’ big inning down Raiders

Breaking away from a 1-1 deadlock, Medina erupted for six runs in the third inning to key an 11-3 victory over Barker this afternoon in a Niagara-Orleans League baseball game at Vets Park.

Back-to-back one out RBI singles by Lawson Fenton and Matt Riemer ignited Medina’s decisive uprising. Then after a second out, Quentin Adkins banged out a two-run double and Justin Morgan and Josh Scroger followed up with back-to-back RBI doubles to quickly boost the Mustangs advantage to 7-1.

Brennan Zinkievich had three hits for Medina as Fenton and Riemer both had two. Zinkievich’s hits included a triple and an RBI single in the sixth inning while Riemer’s included a first inning RBI single which followed a double by Fenton.

Jason Hellwig went the distance on the mound for Medina giving up 5 hits and striking out 11. He registered three strkeouts in the second, fourth and sixth innings.

Eddie Wasock had 2 hits for Barker.

Medina improves to 3-0 in N-O action while Barker slips to 1-3.
