Avenging an 8-6 loss on Tuesday, Medina blanked Akron 4-0 in a key Niagara-Orleans League baseball game at Vets Park this evening.

The win also vaults Roy-Hart, a 4-1 victor over Wilson, into sole possession of the N-O lead.

Roy-Hart is now 3-0 while Akron is 4-1 and Medina 3-1.

Zack Fike and Aidan Paul combined to hurl the shutout on the mound for Medina. Fike scattered 3 hits and struck out 7 over the first five and one-third innings. Paul came on and allowed no hits and struck out 3 over the final inning and two-thirds.

Defensively, the Mustangs defense turned a double play in the fourth inning from Hayden Woodroe in right field to Paul at first base.

Julian Woodworth bangs out a fifth inning single to drive in Medina’s first run.

Medina broke away from a scoreless deadlock by tallying three times in the fifth inning on RBI singles by Julian Woodworth, Paul and Joe Cecchini.

The Mustangs tacked on an insurance run in the sixth as Woodroe singled and came home on a single by Brandon Christiaansen.

Akron left runners stranded at second and third in the third and sixth innings and left two aboard in the fifth.

Medina next hosts Albion at 4:45 p.m. Friday.

Roy-Hart 4, Wilson 1
Roy-Hart broke away from a 1-1 tie with a pair of runs in the fourth inning on a two-run single by Ethan Kuzma.

Wilson grabbed a 1-0 lead in the top of the first on an RBI single by John Ernest but Roy-Hart quickly knotted the score in the home half of the frame on the first of Thomas Russo’s three hits.

The contest was a pitchers duel as Roy-Hart hurler Ryan Mettler allowed 4 hits and struck out 9 while Ernest likewise gave up 4 hits and struck out 7 for Wilson.

Barker 6, Newfane 0
Aidan Voss hurled a 4 hitter with 10 strikeouts and no walks to lead Barker to a 6-0 win over Newfane as the Raiders avenged an 11-4 loss earlier in the week.

Zach Hill had 2 hits and Jaret Black had an RBI single plating the first of Barker’s two third inning runs which proved to be more than enough.

Barker is now 1-5 and Newfane 2-4 in N-O action.
