Completing a home and home series season sweep, Medina defeated Lew-Port 12-6 at Vets Park this afternoon in a non league lacrosse game.

Tyler Valley scored 5 goals, Jake Cotter 4, Aaron Feltz 2 and Brendan Luthart 1 for the Mustangs which also downed the Lancers by a nearly identical margin of 13-7 earlier in the season at Lew-Port.

Cotter scored two quick goals in the first four minutes to give Medina a lead it did not relinquish.

The Mustangs upped the lead to 4-2 at the end of the first period after goals by Valley and Feltz.

Unanswered second period tallies by Cotter and Valley then boosted the Medina lead to 6-2 at the half.

However, Lew-Port came battling back. The Lancers cut the deficit to 7-5 at the three-quarter mark and then to 7-6 early in the final period before the Mustangs got the offense in gear again.

Medina opened up a little breathing room at 9-6 after a quick two goal scoring burst within a span of just nine seconds as Luthart tallied with 6:59 remaining and Valley at the 6:50 mark.

That quick burst ignited a flurry of five straight Medina goals as Valley added two more tallies and Feltz one to close out the Mustangs victory.

Cotter now has a total of 23 goals on the season and Valley 22.

Now at 5-3 overall, Medina next hosts Batavia at 7 p.m. Friday in another non league contest.
