Mustangs stickmen romp past Lakemen in sectional opener

Roaring out to a 10-0 first quarter lead, No. 7 seed Medina went on to defeat No. 10 Wilson this afternoon at Vets Park in the opening round of the Section VI Class C playoffs.

Jake Cotter scored 6 goals to spearhead the Medina attack. Brock Rosenberg, Tyler Valley and Aaron Feltz each netted 3 goals for the Mustangs as Brett Pecoraro, Brendan Luthart and Mason Lewis each tallied twice.

Cotter, Feltz, Luthart and Pecoraro each scored twice in Medina’s decisive 10-0 first quarter scoring explosion as Valley and Lewis both netted 1.

The Mustangs upped the lead to 14-2 at the half as Cotter netted 3 goals and Valley 1 in the second quarter.

Rosenberg scored twice in the third period as Feltz, Cotter, Lewis and Valley each tallied once as the Mustangs advantage soared to 20-2 at the three-quarter mark.

Now at 9-8 overall Medina next visits No. 2 Eden in the quarterfinals on Tuesday. Eden downed the Mustangs 12-4 during the regular season.
