Mustang stickmen rally past Lakemen

Coming from behind in the second half, Medina trimmed Wilson 9-8 in a Class D Division lacrosse game at Vets Park this afternoon.

Trailing 6-4 at the half, Medina rallied into a 7-6 lead midway through the third period after a burst of three straight goals by Cayden Lilleby.

Wilson though retied the game at 7-7 before the end of the period on a goal by Mason Branca.

Medina regained the lead for good at 8-7 on a goal by Lilleby with 5:33 to go in the fourth quarter. He later netted what proved to be the game winner with 1:36 remaining for a 9-7 Mustangs lead.

The Lakemen did answer with a goal by Branca with 1:19 remaining but could get no closer.

Lilleby, who finished with a total of 7 goals, and Zaric Boyce each tallied twice in the first half.

Branca had a total of 4 goals for Wilson.

Medina is now 4-6 overall.
