Turning back a second half challenge, Medina bested host Lew-Port 13-7 this afternoon to improve to 2-0 in Class C Division lacrosse competition.

A lightning quick goal just 13 seconds into the game by Brett Pecoraro sparked Medina out to a 4-2 first quarter lead.

The Mustangs upped the advantage to 8-2 at the half but Lew-Port came battling back to slice the deficit to just one at 8-7 late in the third period.

However, Medina turned back the challenge as Tyler Valley scored one goal to close the third period and two more to open the fourth putting the Mustangs back in command at 11-7.

“That really got the momentum back for us,” said Medina Coach Gordy Luthart of Valley’s quick three goal scoring burst. “We weathered the storm and kept plugging.”

Valley finished with a total of 6 goals. Jake Cotter and Aaron Feltz both netted two as Pecoraro, Brendan Luthart and Mason Lewis each chipped in with one.

The Mustangs also got a big game in goal by Adam Cotter who made 9 saves.

Medina is now slated to host Lockport at 6:30 p.m. Friday in a non league make-up game.
