Mustang stickmen down Lancers
Tuning up for the upcoming sectional playoffs, Medina defeated host Lew-Port 18-7 this evening in an interdivisional lacrosse game.
Mason Lewis, Brendan Luthart and Christian Silversmith each scored 4 goals to lead the Medina attack.
In all the Mustangs got goal production from a total of seven players as DaRon Bellan and Ian Joseph both netted 2 and Chaise Prest and Zach Blount 1 each.
Leading by a narrow 3-2 margin, Medina began to pull away by outscoring Lew-Port 6-2 in the second period. Lewis, Luthart and Silversmith each netted a pair of goals during that stretch as the Mustangs opened up a 9-4 lead at the half.
Keeping the momentum, the Mustangs then put a lock on the win by outscoring the Lancers 7-2 in the third period. Bellan and Joseph both tallied twice and Lewis, Silversmith and Blount once during that uprising upping the Mustangs advantage to 16-6.
Medina, which finishes the regular season at 8-8, will next host Gowanda at 5 p.m. next Wednesday in the semifinals of the Section VI Class D playoffs.
