Mustang, Purple Eagle spikers post wins

Medina and Albion both scored straight set home court victories in Niagara-Orleans League volleyball action this evening.

The Mustangs downed Wilson 25-19, 25-18, 25-23 and the Purple Eagles bested Newfane 25-19, 25-9, 25-13.

Akron topped Roy-Hart in straight sets in the other match.

Leah Sheelar serves up a point for Medina.

Lexie Sargent served up points 8-12 and Emily Kams 15-19, including three aces, to spark Medina to the opening set win.

Leading by a narrow 16-15 margin, the Mustangs pulled away in the second set as Maddie Williams scored points 17-19 and Brandi Guild 20-22.

Medina then had to rally from as much as a 16-7 deficit to take the third set and close out the match.

Kams scored points 9-11 (2 aces), Lexi Neuman 18-20 and Molley Gross 23-25 to help lock up the set and the match. Gross had an ace for point 24 as Je’ne Brown added a spiking kill for the set and match winner.

Gross, Williams and Brown each had a total of 4 kills, Carley Schultz 3 and Kams 2. Kams also had 5 aces.

Medina and Wilson are now both 1-2.

Albion 25-25-25, Newfane 19-9-13
Chanyce Powell had 8 kills, 4 aces, 4 digs and 2 blocks to lead the way for Albion as Haley Smith added 5 kills, Kaitlyn Van Skiver 3 kills and Caitlynn Snook 3 aces and 2 kills.

Albion is now 2-1 and Newfane 0-3.

Mason Pecoraro had 7 kills, 2 blocks and 3 aces; Christian Hahn 4 kills and 3 blocks and Leif Isaacson 5 digs to lead the way for Lyndonville/Medina in the three set non league loss at Cardinal O’Hara.
