Mustang JVs get offense rolling

After struggling offensively the past two weeks, the Medina/Lyndonville JV football team erupted for a 46-18 victory over Barker/Roy-Hart Thursday evening at Middleport to improve to 2-0 in the B East Division and 3-1 overall.

Quarterback Ronnie Koonce rushed for 131 yards and 5 touchdowns and also passed for 177 yards and 2 more scores to spearhead the Mustangs offense.

Johnny Salone was on the receiving end of both touchdown passes and finished with a total of 145 yards receiving.

Daemon Shatara ran for a two-point conversion and also contributed 58 yards rushing while Iszon Richardson chipped in with 44 rushing yards.

The Mustangs also added another two-point conversion on a pass from Koonce to Brendan Luthart.

The Mustangs defense forced four turnovers as Shatara, Justice Hughes, Jesse Iniguez and Ian Joseph each had a fumble recovery.

Salone also registered 13 tackles and had a forced fumble while Luthart came up big in the secondary breaking up four passes.

The Mustangs next host Alden at 10 a.m. Oct. 3 at Vets Park.
