Mustang JV football squad downs Steelers

The Medina/Lyndonville JV football team defeated Lackawanna on Saturday by a score of 20-6.

Nick Kepner opened the scoring for Medina with a 6 yard touchdown run in the first quarter. The Mustangs added the two point conversion on a pass from Zach Johnson to Rickie Pitts.

Lackawanna was able to cut the deficit to 8-6 on the ensuing possession, as Jeremiyha Pressley scored on a 65 yard touchdown run for the Steelers.

However, the Mustangs answered back with another touchdown before the half as Johnson connected with William Braswell on a 10 yard pass to make the score 14-6.

After a strong defensive performance in the second half, the Mustangs were able to seal the victory with 33 seconds remaining as Johnson added a 1 yard touchdown run for insurance.

Johnson passed for 72 yards in total on the day. Justice Hughes led Medina rushers with 63 yards on the ground.

Chase Prest led the Mustangs defense with 6 tackles, including a sack, while Tim Roy contributed 5 tackles and a key fumble recovery.

The Mustangs record is now 1-1, and next play at Alden on Thursday at 7 p.m.
