Mustang jayvees down Purple Eagles

In a key regular season ending clash of unbeatens, the Medina jayvees downed Albion 26-12 Saturday morning at Vets Park.

The Mustangs jumped out to a 6-0 first quarter lead on a spectacular 77 yard punt return by Iverson Poole.

The Purple Eagles pulled even in the second quarter on a 19 yard touchdown run by Jacob Hughson but the Mustangs regained a narrow 12-6 half-time advantage on a 23 yard TD pass from Xander Payne to Cayden Lilleby.

The Mustangs increased the lead to 18-6 in the third quarter on a 3 yard TD run by Noah Skinner.

The Purple Eagles cut the deficit to 18-12 in the fourth quarter on an 8 yard TD run by Amari Jones but could get no closer.

The Mustangs added a big insurance TD on a 33 yard run by Poole and a two-point conversion carry by Zach Oliver.

Skinner then sealed the Mustangs win with a late pass interception.

The Mustangs finish the regular season at 7-0 and are 14-1 over the last two seasons.

The Purple Eagles are now 6-1 and 13-2 over the last two years.
