Mustang gridders romp to victory

Exploding for six first half touchdowns and a commanding 44-0 lead, Medina went on to defeat Barker/Roy-Hart 66-8 this evening in a B North Division game at Middleport.

Taking charge at the outset, Brett Pecoraro broke loose for a 41 yard run setting up a 15 yard touchdown run by Tom Follman.

Quarterback Jason Hellwig added the two-point conversion pass to Ty Hrovat giving the Mustangs a quick 8-0 lead.

The Medina advantage jumped to 24-0 before the end of the first quarter on touchdown runs by Tyler Howard of 1 yard and Devin Joy of 4 yards. Joy added a pair of two-point conversions on a run and a pass reception from Hellwig.

Medina tacked on three more touchdowns in the second quarter on runs of 22 yards by Pecoraro, 49 by Joy and 10 by Hellwig for a 44-0 lead at the break.

Hellwig also had a two-point conversion pass to Pecoraro.

Hrovat scored on a 1 yard run and Joy on a 59 yard punt return in the third quarter upping the advantage to 58-0 as Hellwig added a two-point conversion pass to Tyler Valley.

Medina’s lone score in the final period came on a 10 yard run by Hrovat and a two-point conversion pass from Valley to Dylan Lewis.

Barker/Roy-Hart scored in he fourth quarter on a 67 yard touchdown run by Dominick Snider and a two-point conversion pass from quarterback Andy Xapsos to Tom Callaghan.

Medina improves to 2-2 in the division and 3-2 overall with the win while Barker/Roy-Hart slips to 1-4 1-4.
