Mustang gridders roll past Warriors

Photo by Cheryl Wertman – Quarterback Tyler Valley threw three touchdown passes in Medina / Lyndonville’s win at Tonawanda this evening.

Jumping out to a 16-0 first quarter lead, Medina/Lyndonville went on to defeat host Tonawanda 36-14 this evening in a Section VI match-up football game.

Jalin Cooper scored on a 93 yard run and Dylan Lewis on a 1 yard pass from quarterback Tyler Valley to get the Mustangs rolling in the opening quarter.

Valley also completed two-point conversion passes after both of those touchdowns, first to Eric Neace and then to Cooper.

Up 16-8 at the half, the Mustangs extended the lead to 30-8 in the third quarter as Valley hooked up with Cooper for a 67 yard touchdown pass and Jake Cotter broke loose on a 72 yard run for another TD.

Valley added a two-point conversion pass to Neace following Cotter’s TD run.

Valley rounded out the Mustangs scoring when he completed his third touchdown pass of the evening on a 7 yard toss to Neace in the fourth quarter which ballooned the Mustangs advantage to 36-8.

Valley completed 9 of 15 passes for 158 yards for the game while Cotter picked up a total of 114 yards on the ground.

Defensively for the Mustangs, Tom Follman made 11 tackles and Dawson Joy 10 as Tyler Howard had two sacks.

The Mustangs improve to 5-3 while the Warriors slip to 2-6.
