Mustang cagers facing key week

Photo by Cheryl Wertman – Medina’s Trenton Jones and his Mustang teammates have two key Niagara-Orleans League games this coming week as the Mustangs host Wilson on Tuesday and visit Newfane on Friday.

It’s early in the season but two-time defending champion Medina faces a pair of key contests this coming week in Niagara-Orleans League boys basketball competition against undefeated foes.

Medina, Newfane and Wilson are currently tied for the N-O lead at 2-0 and the Mustangs face both the Panthers and the Lakemen this week. Medina hosts Wilson on Tuesday and then visits Newfane on Friday.

The N-O wrestling champion will be crowned this week as Albion hosts the annual All-League Tournament on Saturday.  Defending champion Newfane currently leads the standings at 4-0 followed by Akron at 3-1. The Panthers visit Medina (2-2) and the Tigers host Barker/Roy-Hart (0-4) in the regular season finales on Wednesday.

In Genesee Region League basketball action Lyndonville visits Holley in a girls contest on Tuesday. The Tigers will then host the Hawks in a boys game on Wednesday.
