Mustang cagers edge past host Lakemen

Medina edged past host Wilson 52-48 this evening to improve to 3-0 in Niagara-Orleans League boys basketball competition.

Scoring the game’s first 11 points, Medina went on to hold leads of 11-7 after one period, 21-17 at the half and 39-31 at the three-quarter mark.

Wilson did rally back to within three, 51-48, but Johnny Salone came up with a clutch steal with only nine seconds remaining to help Medina lock up the win.

Jalin Cooper scored a game high 22 points, including 6 dunks, to lead the Medina attack as Salone added 11, Izaiah Rhim 8, Tryellis Atkins 5, Mason Lewis 4 and Vincent Montague 2. Cooper also grabbed off 11 rebounds.

Justin Daul scored 16, Jonah Miller 14 and Connor Seeley 9 for Wilson which is now 2-2 in N-O action. Seeley hit a dramatic three from near mid court as the first half need to pull the Lakemen within four.

Roy-Hart 52, Albion 41
Snapping a season opening three league game losing streak, Roy-Hart (1-3) downed host Albion (1-3) as DJ Davis scored 20, Jacob Bruning 12 and Brendon Hess 8.

Lamar Chambers and Chase Hall both scored 13 and Korey Reynolds 9 for Albion which led 23-20 at the half.

Newfane 72, Barker 46
Kyle DeVoogel scored 19, Max Weber 13 and Brandon Gross and Chad Dunbar 10 each. to lead Newfane (3-0) to a 72-46 win over Barker (2-1).

Nate Luckman and Malik Smith each scored 12 for Barker which trailed 35-26 at the half.
