Mustang booters shut out Lakemen

Making it five wins in a row, Medina/Lyndonville shut out Wilson 5-0 at Vets Park this afternoon in a Niagara-Orleans League boys soccer game.

Anthony Pane scored two goals and Scott Barber, James Ianni and Josh White each netted one as Medina/Lyndonville improves to 4-1 in the league and 5-1 overall.

“It was a real team win,” Medina/Lyndonville coach Steve Luksch said. “The guys motivation was to win it for (junior forward) Steven Anderson whose grandfather passed away this week. They didn’t want to let their teammate down so they certainly played with some enthusiasm.”

Medina/Lyndonville grabbed a lightning quick lead in the first two minutes as Barber scored on a header off a throw-in from Ianni.

Ianni doubled the lead when he lined in a rebound off his own initial shot with 15 minutes to go in the half as Ben Howell earned the assist.

Just two minutes later Josh White scored off an assist from Pane to boost the Medina/Lyndonville advantage to 3-0 at the half.

Pane scored the Mustangs two second half goals, the first on a rebound off an initial shot by Greg Husung, and the second on a sharp angled shot from the end line off an assist from Ianni.

Pane now has a total of six goals on the season and Ianni three.

Roy-Hart 5, CSAT 1
BUFFALO – Alex Stoddard and Jesus Campos each scored two goals and Josh Baptiste one to lead Roy-Hart to a 5-1 victory at CSAT as the Rams even their N-O record at 2-2.

Roy-Hart built up a 3-0 half-time advantage on two goals by Campos and one by Stoddard.

Campos, Stoddard, Lyle Wagner and Cody Breedlove each had an assist for the Rams.

The loss drops CSAT to 2-3.

Girls Soccer

Pembroke 2, Lyndonville 1 OT
PEMBROKE – Pembroke tied the game at 1-1 on a penalty kick goal with one minute remaining in regulation time and then netted the game winner in the first overtime period to nip Lyndonville 2-1 this evening in a Genesee Region League game.

Lyndonville grabbed a 1-0 lead earlier in the second half on a goal by Katie Albone off an assist from Autumn Nesbitt.

Kendall 8, Elba 0
KENDALL – Nicole Browe and Maya Rutland each scored three goals to lead Kendall (4-1-1) past Elba 8-0 in G-R action.

Taylor Requa and Rachel Ackles netted the other goals for the Lady Eagles.

Holley 0, Oakfield-Alabama 0
OAKFIELD – Holley battled to a scoreless tie with Oakfield-Alabama in a G-R game dropping the Lady Hawks to 1-2-3.
