A goal in the opening minutes proved to be just enough to earn Medina/Lyndonville a narrow 1-0 victory over host Newfane this afternoon in a Niagara-Orleans League boys soccer game.

Cole Seefeldt scored unassisted just three minutes into the game for the Mustangs lone goal.

Zach Fike earned the shutout in goal for the Mustangs whose defense was anchored by Seefeldt, Evan Horn, Jack Whipple and Casey Winiecki.

Now at 2-0 in the league, the Mustangs next host Roy-Hart at 7 p.m. Wednesday.

The loss drops Newfane to 0-2.
