Mustang booters best Purple Eagles

ALBION – An early two goal scoring burst ignited Medina to a 6-1 victory over Albion this evening in a Niagara-Orleans League boys soccer game.

Steven Anderson scored twice in the first 12 minutes, both off assists from Scott Barber, to put Medina on top to stay.

“The last game (a 4-3 overtime loss at Newfane) we came out flat and got into an early hole. This was totally different,” Medina coach Steve Luksch said. “We came out flying and maintained the intensity for 80 minutes.”

Albion did cut the deficit to 2-1 on a goal by Cam Usselman with six minutes to go in the first half. However, Medina answered right back just a minute later as Greg Husung scored off an assist from Anderson to give the Mustangs a 3-1 lead at the break.

Anthony Pane scored twice in the second half for the Mustangs and Anderson completed his hat-trick with a penalty kick goal. Medina is now 1-1 in N-O action and Albion 0-1.

In the other N-O games, Akron (3-0) nipped Newfane (1-1) 2-1 on a pair of goals by Randy Mayer and CSAT (1-0) upended Wilson (0-1) 2-1.

Kendall 4, Batavia 0
BATAVIA – First half goals by Riley Igbal and Justin Barrett, off an assist from David Hardenbrook, sparked Kendall to a 4-0 non league victory over Batavia this afternoon.

The Eagles locked up the victory on second half goals by Alex Sutphen, from Igbal, and by Sage Summers, from Barrett.

Garret Love earned the shut-out in goal.

Medina 245, Newfane 265
Improving to 2-1, Medina defeated Newfane 245-265 this afternoon in a Niagara-Orleans League match at Shelridge.

Medina’s Ian McAnn and Newfane’s Paul Tilyou shared medalist honors with rounds of 45.

Gage Masters and Mike Cardone both added 48’s for the Mustangs.

Albion 251, Roy-Hart 264
Connor Barleben took medalist honors with a 43 and John Krieger shot 44 to lead Albion past Roy-Hart 251-264 as the Purple Eagles likewise improve to 2-1.

Evan Conley and Faye Conley both shot 48 for Roy-Hart.
