Motorcyclist dies after hitting deer this morning in Carlton
CARLTON – A Lyndonville man died this morning after striking a deer while driving a motorcycle.
William M. Carpenter III was travelling eastbound on Gaines-Waterport Road (Route 279) and struck a deer at about 6:31 a.m., Undersheriff Chris Bourke said.
After impact with the deer, the motorcycle skidded approximately 200 feet on its side. Carpenter was ejected from the motorcycle.
County Coroner Rocky Sidari pronounced Carpenter dead at the scene, Bourke said.
The Orleans County Sheriff’s Office is investigating the fatal accident.
