Monroe County tops Tri County icers
Regaining the lead for good with two late second period goals, defending champion Monroe County went on to defeat the Tri County midget hockey team 7-4 on Saturday.
Tri County jumped out to a quick 1-0 lead on a goal by Matt Neilson just 20 seconds into the first period.
Monroe County went up 2-1 but Tri County retied the contest at 2-2 in the second period on a goal by David Archibald but could not regain the lead.
Monroe County answered with a pair of goals before the period ended and then tallied the first three goals of the third period to open up a commanding 7-2 lead.
Tri County scored the game’s final two goals on tallies by Patrick Ricker and Tucker Trask.
Now at 0-2, Tri County next faces Perinton next Sunday.
