Midget League has high scoring All-Star game

Putting together a huge last inning rally, the combined Rotary/Sandstone/St. Mary’s team rallied for a 22-14 win over the combined Carlton/Barre/Vets squad in the annual Albion Midget League 12U All-Star game on Saturday.

Trailing 14-10, the winners erupted for 12 runs in the seventh inning highlighted by a grand slam home run by Jack Kinter, a home run and single by Xavier Byrd and a double by Nolan Sullivan.

Nick Martino then preserved the lead by registering three strikeouts in the bottom of the seventh to close out the wild win.

The Carlton/Barre/Vets team had grabbed the 14-10 lead by scoring 4 runs in the sixth inning on triples by Jason Conn and Josh Bovenzi along with singles by John Bianchi and Dylan Narburgh.

The Rotary/Sandstone/St. Mary’s squad had knotted the contest at 10-10 by scoring 3 times in the top of the sixth on hits by Nick Radder and Aaron Sugar.  Earlier, Radder had a two-run double and Blake Preston a two-run single to key a 6 run fourth inning uprising.

Byrd finished with 5 hits and Radder 4 for the winners while Brandon Nashburn had 3 and Narburgh and Conn 2 each for Barre/Carlton/Vets.
