The battle for the fourth and final playoff spot in the Lockport Midget ‘B’ League is going right down to the wire.

The playoff picture became more complicated Friday night as fifth place Somerset swept to an upset doubleheader victory over front-running Lockport by scores of 8-4 and 7-4.

Those results have forced Medina and Roy-Hart 2 to try and squeeze in a makeup game this weekend as the playoffs, which were originally slated to begin last Wednesday, are now set to begin on Monday.

That game is necessary because the standings, as listed on the league website, now have Lockport 7-5, Roy-Hart 1 at 7-5, Medina 6-5, Roy-Hart 2 4-6-1 and Somerset 4-7-1.

The outcome of the Medina vs. Roy-Hart 2 game will therefore determine whether Roy-Hart 2 or Somerset claims that final playoff spot.

Medina and Roy-Hart 2 split a pair of earlier season meetings.

The teams are looking to play the game on Sunday evening.
