Midget ‘A’ eyes larger league lineup

The upcoming diamond season looks to be bright for the Lockport Midget ‘A’ League which is expected to expand from a six to an eight team lineup.

Teams from Albion and Wheatfield/Cambria are expected to join the lineup along with six returning teams including Lyndonville, Medina, Roy-Hart, Akron, Lockport 1 and Lockport 2.

The ‘A’ League, which is for players ages 16-18, is scheduled to open the season on June 16.

The ‘B’ Division is again looking to have a six team lineup including Medina, Roy-Hart 1, Roy-Hart 2, Somerset, Wheatfield/Cambria and Lockport.

The ‘B’ League, which is for players ages 13-15, is slated to open the season on June 15.

“Do to so much parity in both leagues, the leagues will be very competitive,” said ‘A’ League President Ramon Rodriguez who noted that the league is still accepting applications for new teams until May 1.
