Michigan man arrested for transporting large amount of marijuana into Orleans County

ALBION – The New York State Police in Albion working along with the NYS DEC and Orleans County Major Crimes Task Force have arrested a Michigan man for transporting large quantities of marijuana into Orleans County.

On Tuesday at approximately 12 p.m., Troopers out of Albion observed a Dodge pickup truck operating on Route 63 in the Town of Shelby with heavily tinted side windows in violation of the NYS Vehicle and Traffic Law. Upon stopping the vehicle, the operator William Q. Nowak, 41, of North Adams, Michigan was found to possess over 100 grams of marijuana, a large quantity of concentrated cannabis in the form of edible chocolate and edible candies made with concentrated cannabis all within his vehicle.

Nowak was charged with the misdemeanor of criminal possession of marijuana in the 4th degree and the felony of criminal possession of a controlled substance in the 5th degree.  Nowak was arraigned in the Town of Shelby Court and remanded to the Orleans County Jail in lieu of $25,000 bail pending further proceedings.
