Mets nip Yankees in youth baseball action

Bogan Tuttle Mets 3, Medina Teachers Association Yankees 2
Hunter Stephens hit a home run and Lukas Grimes a double for the Mets in the narrow win over the Yankees.  Ryan Pegelow stole home for the game winning run.

On the mound Justin Pitts had 3 strikeouts, Grimes 5 and Stephens 4.

The MTA Yankees got strong pitching from Brody Fry striking out 9 batters over 3 innings and Cole Callard striking out 4 over 3 innings.

At the plate, Fry had 2 doubles and a RBI, Michael Chisler a single, and Tyler Allen an RBI.

Mark’s Pizzeria Blue Jays 15, Roy-Hart Red Sox 5
The bats finally woke up as the Medina Blue Jays beat the Roy-Hart Red Sox 15-5 Tuesday night. Josh Hilobuck led the attack with 4 hits and the Jays found some support from their youth movement as well.  Avion Johnson had 3 hits, Brady Christiaansen 2 and Gavin Snook 2 to help keep the offense rolling.

Brandon Christiaansen pitched three strong innings with relief help from Hilobuck, Julian Woodworth, and Breydin McEwen-Miller to keep the Red Sox in check.  Defensively, Carter Woodworth made a nice play at the plate for a key out and Johnson a nice put out at first on a long throw.

Indians 5, Summerset Braves 1
Indians won 5-1 with a strong outing by pitchers  Luke Duffina and Lex Gray, who combined for 10 strikeouts, and with good defense the Braves were held  to only one run.

Going 3-3 on the day Gray had 3 singles with an RBI and Aidan Papaj a double and 2 singles,  Duffina added a double with 2 RBI, Dylan Johnston and Zach Graham both had a single and a RBI and Trey Rhim got a single. Also reaching base for the Indians was Lukin Szatkowski (twice) with an RBI, Jackson McGrath and Clayton Wagner.

Pirates 7, Medina Orioles 0
The Pirates defeated Medina’s Orioles Wednesday night 7 to 0.

Sawyer Lilleby was the starting pitcher giving up two hits while striking out nine Orioles.  Timmy Vasquez followed by throwing three shut out innings also giving up two hits and striking out seven.

Lathan McEwen-Miller led the hitting by clearing the bases with a three RBI triple.  Max Pilon had three hits.  Lilleby, McEwin-Miller, and Shane Fearby had two hits each while TJ Champney, Aleks Seefeldt, Vasquez, and Devin Fuller added a hit each.
