Mercy Flight helicopter crashes in Elba

ELBA – Today at approximately 1 p.m., State Troopers out of Batavia responded to a Mercy Flight helicopter crash near Norton Road in the town of Elba, Genesee County.
More information will be available as the investigation continues.
UPDATE at 3:09 p.m.: The Buffalo News is reporting that two people died in the helicopter crash. They were on a training mission.
Federal Aviation Administration and National Transportation Safety Board will be investigating.
UPDATE at 4:17 p.m. – Assemblyman Steve Hawley issued this statement: “Reports that two people have passed in the helicopter crash that took place today in the town of Elba is incredibly saddening, a tragic development to all of us here in Genesee County. My thoughts and prayers are with the families of those who lost their lives today, as well as all who were affected by this horrific incident.”
